Newmark School embraces the philosophy that early and sustained participation in community service activities gives students an appreciation and understanding of community and global concerns. Students learn about environmental and humanitarian issues affecting their world and have the opportunity to share insights and ideas for making positive change happen. Under the guidance of a certified teacher, our student-driven community service program enables students to grow in ways that enrich their lives as individuals, as members of local communities and as citizens of the world community.
Offers students a chance to explore “careers” and activities, outside of academics as well as interact with classmates as they discover cooking, photography, weight lifting, arts & crats, iPad Appp, computers, and board games.
Power Play Club – 2012-13 REGISTATION FORM
Power Play Club is an optional after-school enrichment program offered over five sessions during the school year. Led by Newmark staff, each session provides students with a structured lesson on a topic of interest such as Decadent Desserts, Lego Engineering and more, as well as time in the gymnasium to gain value exercise and game-playing skills. The children are sure to have fun, socialize, and learn some new hobbies.
Assemblies are scheduled throughout the school year to enrich our curriculum with educational programming that is informative and entertaining. We explore topics in History, Science, Literature, Dance and Movement, Art, Music, Animal Life, and Self-Esteem and Character Development.
Engaging in teambuilding activities allows our students the opportunity to develop a strong foundation in effective communication skills, positive self-esteem, perseverance, and conflict resolution. The Newmark School teambuilding program helps students develop positive relationships with peers and adults at school, experience leadership and learn leadership skills, and see themselves as valuable members of the Newmark School community.
Educational enhancement field trips extend the learning process in many areas and are opportunities for students to link their classroom learning, knowledge and understanding of a subject with outside experiences. These trips have clearly stated objectives that directly correlate to work performed in the classroom. Examples of field trips taken in the past are to places such as museums, theaters, zoos, or corporate facilities.
